The Greene County combined 7/8 girls track and field team placed third of 10 teams at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet May 9 hosted by CMB at Baxter.
Laurin Lyons placed first in shot put with a throw of 30′ 11-1/2″, breaking the local middle school tirls record. Megan Durbin placed first in the high jump at 5′ 0″.
Second place finishes came from Onica Delp in the shot put at 29′ 2″, and from Melanie Doran in the 200 meter hurdles with a time of :31.29, a new local middle school record.
Third place finishes were from Durbin in the 100 meter dash with a time of :14.26; Doran in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of :17.71; and the 400 meter shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:16.72. Runners were Lauren Carlson, Chantel Flack, Doran and Sydney Schiltz.
Coach Teresa Green said it was “another great night” and she congratulated the girls on their performances. “These girls support each other during the meet by cheering each other on,” Green said. She and Roger Olhausen co-coach the combined team.
